In the early eighties, three unemployed youths open a fish stall to earn some money. They turn to underhanded tactics to beat out the competition, but their efforts fail. Then the community comes together to turn them around and teach them about morals. It was in the early eighties that China began its market reforms and allowed citizens to engage in business. This film provides insight into Chinese views on social morality, and the challenges posed by the uncertainty of a newly free market.
