It is adapted from the Erhu solo The Moon Reflected on the Er-quan Spring by Mr. Hua Yanjun. It tells a tragic love story between Brother Quan (a Chinese folk artist) and Yue'er (an old Erhu player's daughter): love between Brother Quan and Yue'er is threatened by the vicious local tyrant Gu family, Yue'er sinks into the bottom of the lake, bereft of love, Brother Quan is so desperate that he blinds his eyes.
