This movie is adapted from one of the masterpieces of Wang Shuo.

In those first years of reform, Yu Guan and his friends open a company called "Three-for" Company, namely, they are supposed to help people out of their trouble in their place. They are forward to deal with love affairs on behalf of those ambitious people who are occupied with their own career; they are willing to be the doormat and scolded by the wives in place of those henpecked husbands; they award those writers who earn money but earn no fame; they help attend upon the old in place of those unfilial young people.
