Synopsis:
The drama is a legend of the folk artists of shadow play in the area of Ling River, in western Liaoning. Two leaders of shadow play families became enemies in their competition for the ?°Shadow Play King of Rehe?±. Twenty years later the two families were forced by Japanese invaders to build a railway bridge across the Ling River. The two generations and families let go of their feud and united to fight against the common enemy until their last breath. Based on the life of least-privileged shadow play practitioners in anti-Japanese wartime Liaoning, the story is unique in its subject matter with drastic conflicts, distinctive characters, and a compact structure. The theme of patriotism and heroism conveys impressive spiritual and artistic strength, and the drama bears profound historical and cultural significance.
