In the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty,the clay-figure art of Chang Qingshan is awarded by the emperor as Clay-figuring Chang,which is a great honor to the artist.But later in the early 1900s when it is the tiome of Republic of China,the clay art develops a lot and Chang's offspring composes many works which won awards in international fairs.However,the artists are oppressed and tortured in one way or another and even the artists' families are forced to break up,with their wives and children separated and scattered.This movie tells the miseries and sufferings of the artists in old China.
