Based on the novel by Chi Li, this film follows the story of Lai Shuangyang.At the age of 15, Shuangyang's mother dies and her father abandons her. Left to fend for herself, she sets up the first private business in her neighborhood, selling street snacks at a night market. Though her business is a success, the story doesn't end there,as Shuangyang is beset by a host of family problems. Shuanyang must stand up and become the pillar of her family.
